Orskov Yard welcomes seven new apprentices
At Orskov Yard, we have been looking forward to this week with great anticipation as seven new apprentices embark on their careers with us. We are proud to welcome two maritime blacksmith apprentices, three ship fitter apprentices, and two sheet metal worker apprentices.
For us, welcoming apprentices is a testament to our commitment to educating young people and preserving a highly skilled workforce in the maritime industry. We work purposefully to ensure that at least 10% of our blue-collar staff are in training programs.
Educating young people and fostering talents is a responsibility we take very seriously. Across departments, we possess a wealth of expertise in various areas of ship repair and maintenance. With many experienced employees on board, Orskov Yard can pass down invaluable knowledge and essential skills and techniques to newcomers.
– It’s encouraging to see young people opting for vocational training in the maritime sector. Their choice is beneficial not only for us at Orskov Yard but also for the future of the industry. New apprentices bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, which heightens the dynamics of the workforce, says our Director, Christina Ørskov.
At Orskov Yard, our reputation extends far beyond our local roots. We are internationally recognized for our expertise, providing all-round, one-stop solutions covering all aspects of ship repair and conversion. We strongly believe that this expertise is fostered by having a diverse and dynamic team.
Training apprentices is an investment in the future. It ensures a skilled workforce, facilitates the transfer of crucial knowledge, keeps us adaptable to new technologies and methods, and, not least, maintains our competitive edge.
As our seven new apprentices put on their safety helmets and step into the shipyard, they represent the future of shipbuilding, standing on the shoulders of an experienced workforce who are ready to share their knowledge.
