A new 60-tonnes rail-mounted tower crane will be a major asset for Orskov Yard

Ships are docking at Orskov Yard for maintenance, repairs, and conversions at an increasingly rapid pace, necessitating the continuous expansion of our facilities.

In a few weeks, a new rail-mounted tower crane from Krøll Cranes A/S will be ready to operate in the Dock 5 area. With a total height of 78.1 meters, a reach of 63.4 meters, and a 120-meter-long rail track, it will significantly enhance operational efficiency, not only at the dock but also along the nearby quay area – called Jeppe Ørskov Pier – which we recently acquired on a permanent lease.

The new electric-powered crane replaces multiple diesel-driven mobile cranes, delivering greater flexibility, improved efficiency, and a notable environmental benefit ♻️

Jeppe Ørskov Pier, just a few years old, is designed to meet Orskov Yard’s growing needs, offering increased water depth (9.5 meters by the quay and 14 meters in the floating dock) and a high capacity of shore power 🔋 for our valued customers.

“Last year, over 100 vessels visited our shipyard for refits and repairs. Handling such complex projects require planning, expertise, and state-of-the-art equipment. That’s why we continuously invest in our docks, quays, workshops, and cranes—to ensure we always meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. We want to ensure that every ship crew is welcomed by the best facilities possible”, says CEO Lars Fischer.
