An overhaul is a complex and demanding process that requires technical expertise, specialized tools, and meticulous planning. Our mechanical workshop, located next to the docks, has the capacity and equipment to handle multiple overhauls simultaneously – a significant advantage when managing large scopes, such as the Horizon Arctic, where five thrusters, two rudders, two main propeller shafts, two steering gears, 20 rack coolers, and pumps are being overhauled within just 20 days of planned docking.

With years of experience in ship maintenance, we have developed various methods to optimize our docking procedures. One example is our procedure for transporting thrusters between the vessel and the workshop. While many yards typically use hoists and cranes, we lower a truck into the dock to extract the thruster using a specially designed crane arm. This approach saves both time and manpower 💡

We continuously invest in new technology to optimize processes at our machine workshop. Among our latest additions is a water blasting machine for surface treatment – an environmentally friendly solution that minimizes the use of abrasives while providing a gentle yet highly effective cleaning and pre-treatment of components such as pumps and thrusters. Previously, we used steel brushes and manual labor to clean these components. The water blasting machine not only improves speed and efficiency but also enhances working conditions for our employees.
